The Top Layer IPS 5500 E is a single-appliance security gateway Intrusion Protection System.
The IPS unit provides network-level and application-level protection to a network from good, bad and suspicious traffic. It is a hardware-based, multi-processor system that has an onboard application level stateful firewall that works in conjunction with the Intrusion Prevention subsystems to provide security. The IPS 5500 provides a 3-Dimensional approach to secure networks of interest to: Stop Resource Abuse, Prohibit Access to Unauthorized Clients, and Stop Malicious Content.
The IPS Unit supports a number of management interfaces to manage it both locally and using a remote system. It provides logging, reporting, statistics, and graphical summaries of various security events, blocked and detected attacks.
