About the Laboratories

CygnaCom operates two laboratories accredited by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) of the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST). CygnaCom has strict management and procedural controls to assure our customers that their information will not be disclosed to any unauthorized persons.

The Security Evaluation Laboratory (SEL) is an accredited Common Criteria Testing Laboratory authorized to conduct product evaluations according to the Common Criteria and the Common Evaluation Methodology under the U.S. National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) schema. The SEL conducts NIAP evaluations up to and including the Evaluation Assurance Level 7 (EAL7). The CygnaCom SEL was among the first CCTLs to be accredited by NIAP, in August 2000.

The Cryptographic Equipment Assessment Laboratory (CEAL) in June 1995, was one of the first commercial labs to be accredited as a Cryptographic and Security Testing Laboratory. The CEAL tests commercial hardware and software products for compliance with these U.S. Government Federal Information Processing Standards:
